Research and Graphs :D
So ive been doing a little bit more research and ive found out that the second part of my experiment was NOT related to reaction time :O it's called "processing speed"!
here is the site:

i have also made my graphs to put into my results :) i hope 6 is a good amount of graphs.
Science Kills Socializing Skills :P lol that should be my motto

Cram, cram, cram
There's only a few days until we have to hand the SRP in and i am getting stressseddd :/ I still need to work out everyone's results and what they mean!
Questions:
1. Do i have to hand it ALL the permission notes?
2. When i mention certain people, do i say subject/person #1?
3. How can i have pictures and diagrams if my experiment is a people's experiment?
Thanks, Amy

People Experiment
Hey everyone, so ive started my actual srp experiment. Ive recorded the responses and reactions of 30 different people and i have their permission notes :) there's 15 girls (easy to find) and 15 boys (harder to find).
Ive also started my introduction of my report and i will try to do the acknowledgements soon because it looks the easiest. :P
Sighh... i've still got heaps to do though and i have other assignments and things due as well.

Blasting Music When You're Bored!
hello again,
ive currently been typing up and trying to print off all my permission notes for people to participate in my experiment. hopefully it wont take that long because i want to get started already :/ but... my printer is not cooperating with me as it is broken :( GREAT
i will get them printed off somewhere else yeah :) wish me luck... on printing? hahaha
til next time, Amy

My Experiment :D
Aim: to find out whether or not different age groups and genders affect their reactions/ reaction time.
Hypothesis: Younger people have faster reactions than older people. and Females have faster reactions than males.
Independent Variable: Gender and Age
Dependent Variable: Colours, words and pictures on cards.
Equipment:
* 20 large cards
* an easel
* a stopwatch
* 2 chairs
* a pointing stick
Method:
1. Collect equipment.
2. Organize 15 males and 15 females to participate in the experiment.
3. Sort people into different categories e.g. males versus females, under 18s versus over 18s, over 18s males versus under 18s females etc. Each person may fall into more than one category.
4. Conduct the experiment one to one with each person.
5. Hold up various large cards, with different words, pictures or colours on them, in front of each person. Cards include puzzles like "where's wally", words that say a colour but spelled a different colour, etc.
6. Use a stopwatch to time how long each person reacts and responds.
7. Make a table to record information.
8. Record the time in seconds in the table.
9. Repeat steps 4 to 8 with each person three times.
Risk Assessment:
Identify:
1. Pointing stick may poke someone's eye.
2. Easel may fall on top of someone.
Assess:
1. If stick is in eye, this may cause be painful and uncomfortable. Irritation and infection may occur.
2. Easel is heavy so therefore if someone is squashed under it they may be in pain.
Control:
1. Do not direct the pointing stick towards somebody's eye. Do not run with the stick.
2. Stabilize the easel properly and make sure nothing/ no-one pushes it.
Disposal:
N/A
that's it :)

Time Flys When It's The Holidays
Pretty much a month has passed since my last post :S so im writing a new post about my SRP and how its going.
Yeah its not going so well because i thought it wouldnt take this long to plan and prepare everything and the equipment i need. I also need to write up permission notes for all the people who wants/ needs to participate in my SRP.
I dont know about anyone else but this SRP is taking ages and kinda hard :P well i better stop blogging and get a move on then :)

Colours and Pictures
MY SRP :)
Im thinking of doing an srp to do with people so i came up with this idea... peoples reaction times for different pictures and colours.This is quite hard to explain so it might sound really weird.
i was thinking of having a group of about 30 people to test it on. Maybe different age groups, or males vs females, or both together. it depends on how many males, females, adults, children and teenagers i can recruit.
Method: I think ill hold up posters or cards with those words that says a colour but the word is in a different colour. for example: BLUE was written in red and ill see how long it'll take someone to say the colour instead of the word.
Another type of card that may be shown could be those pictures that shows 2 different objects/things and maybe people in different age groups or genders may see different images at first.
The variables ill be able to control would be the picture cards, the area where the experiment will take place, the amount of people and the time period. The variables might be a bit hard to control but im determined :) The amount of sleep they had the night before, the sounds/ noises in the surroundings, and the brightness/ darkness of the room would all be a contributing factor to the results.
Ive been doing some research and looking up several pictures. Here are some sites:
1. http://www.braintraining.com.au/
2. http://thatsciencegang.com/images/stroop1.jpg
3. http://thatsciencegang.com/images/stroop2.jpg
4. http://www.2atoms.com/images/weird/illusions/004.gif
Thats all i can think of at the moment so :) good luck everyone and bye for now

People Experiment
Hey everyone, i've started my actual srp experiment. I've finished recording the responses and reactions of 30 different people, 15 boys and 15 girls. Finding volunteering girls was rather easy :P but boys on the other hand.
It was rather difficult because i had to perform my experiment at around the same time and in a specific order to the volunteers. The experiment was done one on one so the other people couldn't see what was going on.
I have nearly finished my introduction :) and i will be continuing with it tomorrow. Sigh... i will also try and finish my acknowledgements.
